About

As a clinician and retired university professor, Dan founded MindWorX Mental Health Services to combine therapy and teaching.

With 25 years of university teaching knowledge and extensive clinical and developmental counselling experience working with cognitive, social, emotional, and interpersonal development, we deliver a teacher counsellor model that translates evidence-based interventions into practical skills, fostering resilience and sustained well being.

At MindWorX we offer human centred, evidence-based care that builds strengths and resilience through individual, group, family, and community work, integrating over two decades of teaching to help clients understand the mind and achieve lasting well being.

Men First

At MindWorX, the teacher counsellor model addresses three common problems men particularly face. When men lack emotional regulation, they become more reactive and prone to conflict, undermining relationships. When men lack mental clarity, decision making falters, reducing work effectiveness and life satisfaction. When men lack resilience, setbacks linger and physical and mental health decline. Left unmanaged, stress may erode health, performance, and relationships. MindWorX delivers practical skills development in emotional intelligence, clearer decision making, and adaptive behavioral patterns tailored to how men think and act. We teach concrete strategies to recognize triggers, regulate responses, and change habits so clients restore agency, reduce risk, and improve functioning across home, work, and community.

A Unique Approach to Counselling

MindWorX is a trauma informed mental health practice where healing meets insight. Designed especially for how men think, MindWorX blends clinical counselling with structured psychoeducation to help clients understand their personality, reframe and reorganize problematic or disordered thinking, and recover from the deep impact of trauma – including adverse childhood-adolescent traumatic experiences (ACEs), attachment injuries, and unresolved emotional wounds. Through this integrated approach, clients not only learn why they struggle, but how to transform those patterns into clarity, resilience, and long-term psychological stability.

Not Just Talk

MindWorX’s teacher counsellor model turns trauma informed insight into action by mapping personality patterns, shifting entrenched negative thinking towards healthier perspectives, retrain automatic thoughts into constructive, reality based beliefs through structured psychoeducation and evidence based interventions, transform unhelpful thinking habits, and coach men to practice trauma informed skills that restore clarity, resilience, and lasting psychological stability.

At MindWorX we treat a spectrum of clinical concerns: for example, adjustment disorders, where life changes disrupt functioning and require short term coping strategies that often precede or coexist with depressive and anxiety disorders; trauma and stressor related disorders, which demand trauma informed stabilization and processing; and substance use and addiction recovery, which we treat alongside trauma and mood symptoms to restore regulation and prevent relapse. We also address adult personality developmental delay and identity reconstruction, helping clients reframe long standing patterns and rebuild coherent self narratives.

In addition to clinical care, we offer developmental counselling to support academic success, vocation and career planning, work life strategies, and targeted interventions for at risk individuals – all integrated into tailored, evidence based treatment plans that emphasize skill learning, resilience, and practical outcomes, particularly for men navigating relational and developmental challenges.
